Reentry Community
Mentorship Program
Pairing returning citizens with people who've walked the same road — and made it through — for one-on-one guidance, accountability, and real-life coaching throughout the reentry process.
Guided by Those Who've Been There
There is no substitute for guidance from someone who truly understands what you are going through. Our mentors are not counselors reading from a textbook — they are people who have successfully navigated reentry themselves, rebuilt their lives, and now give back by walking alongside others on that same journey.
Through structured one-on-one relationships, Reentry Worldwide's Mentorship Program provides residents with a trusted guide, a consistent source of accountability, and a living example that a stable, successful life after incarceration is possible.
What Mentorship Covers
One-on-One Guidance
Each resident is matched with a dedicated mentor for regular one-on-one sessions — a private, consistent space to talk through challenges, celebrate progress, and plan next steps.
Accountability & Goal-Setting
Mentors help residents set realistic short- and long-term goals, track progress, and stay accountable — turning intentions into concrete, measurable action.
Life Skills Coaching
From managing finances and navigating relationships to handling stress and making sound decisions, mentors share practical life skills drawn from their own lived experience.
Employment & Career Navigation
Mentors who have overcome employment barriers themselves guide residents through job searching, interview preparation, workplace expectations, and building a professional reputation.
Emotional Support & Resilience
Reentry is emotionally demanding. Mentors provide a steady, non-judgmental presence — helping residents process setbacks, maintain perspective, and build the resilience to keep moving forward.
Community Connection
Mentors open doors to networks, resources, and community relationships that residents may not have access to on their own — expanding their support system beyond the program.
How the Program Works
Intake & Matching
Every resident completes a brief intake to identify their goals, background, and personality — so we can match them with a mentor whose experience and strengths are the right fit.
First Meeting & Relationship Building
Mentor and resident meet to establish trust, set expectations, and agree on a rhythm for their sessions — building the foundation for a genuine, productive relationship.
Ongoing Sessions & Milestones
Regular one-on-one meetings keep the relationship active and focused. Mentors and residents track milestones together, adjusting goals as circumstances evolve.
Graduation & Continued Connection
When residents reach their reentry goals, we celebrate that achievement — and many mentor relationships continue long after the formal program ends, becoming lasting bonds.
"A mentor who has lived it changes everything. When someone looks you in the eye and says 'I was where you are, and here is how I got through it,' that is more powerful than any program we could design."
— George Nelson, Founder & Executive Director
