Our Advocacy Work
Fighting for Those Who Have Paid Their Debt
Reentry Worldwide stands at the intersection of housing, justice, and human dignity — advocating for policy change, systemic reform, and the full restoration of returning citizens.
Why Advocacy Is Central to Our Work
Incarceration does not end at the prison gate. Returning citizens face a web of barriers — housing discrimination, employment restrictions, lost voting rights, and deep social stigma — that make successful reentry extraordinarily difficult without support.
Reentry Worldwide believes that providing housing and services is not enough. We must also work to change the systems and policies that create those barriers in the first place. Our advocacy work is how we fight for lasting, structural change.
The Issues We Fight For
Fair Chance Housing
We advocate for policies that prohibit blanket bans on renting to people with criminal records, ensuring returning citizens have a fair opportunity to secure stable housing without automatic rejection.
Employment Access
Criminal records create lifelong barriers to employment. We push for ban-the-box policies, fair hiring practices, and employer education that opens doors to meaningful work.
Restoration of Rights
We advocate for the restoration of voting rights, civic participation, and full community membership for people who have completed their sentences.
Mental Health & Trauma
Incarceration causes lasting psychological harm. We fight for expanded access to mental health services, trauma-informed care, and substance use treatment as part of every reentry plan.
Family Reunification
Policies that separate families during and after incarceration cause generational harm. We advocate for reforms that support family bonds and reduce the collateral consequences of conviction.
Ending Recidivism Through Support
We champion evidence-based reentry programs and push policymakers to invest in wraparound support rather than cycles of re-incarceration that cost communities more and deliver less.
How We Advocate
Community Voice
We amplify the voices of returning citizens themselves — ensuring that those most affected by these policies are centered in every conversation about reform.
Policy Engagement
Our team engages with local, state, and federal policymakers to advance legislation that removes barriers and creates pathways for successful reentry.
Public Education
We work to shift public perception by sharing stories, data, and research that challenge the stigma surrounding incarceration and reentry.
Coalition Building
We partner with organizations, faith communities, businesses, and advocates who share our commitment to justice, equity, and second chances.
